Make up trends this year will obviously take their cues from the hair and fashion trends. Bright lips, oh my God! Eyebrows, sharp cheek bones and dark eyes! The make up trends this year are going to be wild. Think of the craziest look and you will see it this 2008!

Lip Trends

Bright and Red

Everyone is following Art Deco. The screen goddesses of the 40s rule the scene once again this year. The fire engine red is sill a hot favourite. The shades vary from tangerines to deep reds. This look has been spotted on runways of baby Phat, Whyred, Zac Posen, and DSquared2. It is teamed with glamorously sleek hair and some black liner.

Dark and Daring

Bold lips in dark shades like blue, black and burgundy have been seen a lot this year. Noticed on runways of Derek Lam, Yves Saint Laurent, Baby Phat and DSquared2 was a lot chutzpah. Yves Saint Laurent got Goth back. This look needs lots of attitude. Be boldly elegant with blackish-burgundy and rock like a star with black and nay blues. It will add some daringness to a demure dainty doll.

Very Berry

The lips shouldn’t be lined but just stained giving the effect of having just eaten a Popsicle. Make up with this is minimal giving the impression of a naughty kid. Donna Karan, Caroline Herra, Erin Featherstone, and Peter Som have all used this look on their ramps.

Nude and Virgin

Nude lips not only complement a fresh face but also dark seductress eyes. Fendi, Versace and any other designers have gone with this.

Eye Trends

The Blue blues

It is an 80s trends that not a lot of people have wanted to go through again but it has made a comeback this year. Eyes are now bright, blue, and electric. Dior, Alexandre Herchovitz, Proenza and Threeasfour have got this back. You can wear this shade in mascara or boldly on the lids. Go neutral with the rest of your face though or else you’ll end up looking like a clown.

Bronzed Beauty

Just a highlight of bronze shimmer gives a really metallic and sexy effect to the eyes. This has been seen on practically all the Autumn/Winter 2008 shows. Blend bronze eye shadow with golden shades or maybe even darker ones and team that with bright eyes and nude lips.

Dark

Dark, smoky eyes may never have gone out of fashion but they are darker than ever this year. Think panda eyes! This is great for really late nights. Glamorous! Usually this is paired with nude lips, but, Victor & Rolf went with flawlessly painted red lips. You can add a little purple or blue to the black to lighten it up a tad.

Cheeky Pink Cheeks

Good bye Bronze! Hello Pink! Soft pink shades of blush will rule this year and the next. It spells innocence. It goes well with milky skin and very little makeup. Hey Angel! Versace, though, teamed pink cheeks with dark eyes and pink lips.

Dark, Thick, Eyebrows

Overly plucked eyebrows have long gone and have been replaced by dark and naturally full eyebrows but with symmetry and being neat and groomed.
